Indie Cage Match round 2: 7:30 PM, Sunday, November 13th - UCB East

Extra, extra! UCB East Indie Cage Match’s exciting second show, featuring three super hilarious indie improv teams in a battle to the funniest, is happening Sunday, November 13th, 7:30 PM at UCB East, the Beast.

Our Distinguished Weekly Panel (and some fun facts about them)

This week our distinguished comedy vet is the hilarious Betsy Stover

Betsy has been on numerous UCBT Harold teams including Cowbot, Ice-Nine, DeCoster, and Standard Oil; as well as a million UCBT shows, including the two NYC Soundtracks Live shows directed by, respectively, Amy Poehler and David Wain. She also wrote and performed two long-running UCBT sketch shows with her comedy partner, Katty Biscone

Our hilarious indie darling this week is the rap-tastic Douglas Widick

In addition to being on a zillion indie teams, Douglas started Improv in High School with DSOA Short Form team Hairy Details, and has since studied with such illustrious improv educators as Curtis Gwinn, Neil Casey, Kevin Hines, Betsy Stover, Anthony Atamanuik, Zach Woods, Michael Delaney, Blaine Swen, Ryan Karels, Matt Fischer, Becky Drysdale, Glennis McMurray, and Eliza Skinner all at UCB.

Our incredible indie teams (and some fun facts about them)

Thank you, Robot

Veterans of the indie world, Thank You, Robot, famously performed a set with ham-steak and wig-stool at this year’s DCM. It was hilarious, and both ham-steak and wig-stool pulled their own weight.

What does Thank You, Robot have to say for themselves?

“Thank You, Robot is a comedy troop formed in the fall of 2006. They are Jeremy Bent, Seth Lind, Matt Little, Casey Savage, Christopher Scott, and John Robert Wilson.”

Daring Nerd

Daring Nerd is a team of men in space suits. Or is it a team who likes men in space suits? I have a hard time remembering.

What they say about themselves:

“Underneath our dorky glasses and suspenders are five hot chicks. Real hot.”

Daring Nerd is David Barton, Dan Hodapp, Matt Mayer, Curtis Retherford, and Shannon Taing

Curtains

Our returning champs, Curtains are coming back to defend their Indie Cage Match honor.

Their delightful official blurb:

“Curtains is a NY based improv team that loves one another and would love if you loved them too.”

I think that says it, right folks?

As always our hosts Amey and Ryan will be on hand…hosting.

Official Indie Cage Match NYC assistants Justin Byrne and Evan Boshi will be on hand for the fetching of water, and taking of notes.

Don’t forget to make reservations!
