Raised in Indiana and hailing from the University of Michigan with a degree in Sports Management, Caroline moved to NYC in 2007 to chase dreams. By day, Caroline is an Executive Assistant (which is fancy code for organizing someone else’s life while yours remains in shambles). 

Her skills include the ability to pull off any hair color and smiling.

Joe Bill is widely regarded as one of the best Teachers of Scenic and Comedic Improvisation in America today. He first encountered Improvisation in 1977, when he learned some basic games for performance in his group at Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, IN. By 1990 Joe had performed professionally with 5 different Sketch Comedy and Improv groups, studied with Del Closeat Improv Olympic, and with Martin DeMaat,Michael Gellman, Bernie Sahlins and others before graduating from The Second City Training Center, Co-founded The Annoyance Theater (all in Chicago), and was making his living as a Nationally Touring Stand Up Comedian. It was also 1990 when his passion for teaching Improvisation kicked into high gear, and a unique approach to Improvised Scene and Character began to be articulated by a number of teachers at Chicago’s Annoyance Theater, lead by the visionary Artistic Director of Annoyance, Mick Napier

Nate Dern is the Artistic Director of the UCB Theatre in New York. He can be seen every Friday at 7:30pm at UCBeast performing with his improv team WHAT I DID FOR LOVE

Nate got his long-form improv comedy start in 2003 with Harvard’s Immediate Gratification Players. 

Nate’s credits include small appearances on The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, ESPN’s Silly Little Game, The Onion News Network, TRL, and as the “Huh guy” in a viral AT&T commercial.

Nate is the author of Mock Trials, a feature length comedy screenplay currently being produced by Portland based SoundSkript Entertainment. 

Outside of comedy, Nate is the owner/operator of video production company NOJL Films and is currently a sociology PhD student at Columbia University.

Born and raised in Napa CA, Shalyah moved to LA in 2004 to study at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She then spent several years performing in the parades and shows atThe Disneyland Resort in Anaheim CA. In 2008, she moved allllllll the way across the country to New York City, and has been studying improv at UCB NY ever since!

Kristen Acimovic is a writer and performer based in New York City. She has studied improv since 2008 and has been lucky to learn the craft from comedy wizards like Betsy Stover, Curtis Gwinn, Joe Wengert, Zach Woods, Shannon O’Neill, Anthony King, Rebecca Drysdale, and Michael Delaney. Kristen can be seen performing on UCB’s Harold Night with her team Mr. Crime and playing various venues around the city with her girl-powered sketch/improv group Candy Slice Comedy. She has an English degree from Northwestern University, makes her living as a copywriter, and holds a Hubai high red belt in Hapkido, a Korean martial art. If you are a fan of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, she would like to talk to you for at least four hours.

The Garys

We are a team of eight NYC-based long-form improvisers who met in 2009 while training at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Collectively, members have studied improv, sketch and theatre at The Magnet (NYC), Second City (Chicago), BMI, and with teachers from iO (Chicago). We have performed at venues all over NYC as well as at the Boston Improv Festival, The Providence Improv Festival, the Del Close Marathon and the 2012 NYC Improv Festival. We’re delighted to announce that we have been accepted to perform at the 2012 Chicago Improv Festival on April 27th. 

In May of 2011, we produced and hosted The Garathon, a highly successful elimination-style, sixteen-team improv tournament at The Tank in NYC. We’re currently accepting submissions for the second annual Garathon where teams vie for $400 in cash prizes. Additional details are posted to our site, if interested. 

Our show, Overtime (NSFW), is a three act 75 minute comedy show which runs regularly at The Tank (151 West 46th St) produced and hosted by us! Overtime (NSFW) consists of a series of improvised scenes inspired by an audience member interview about the thing we all love to hate: work!

Past shows at UCBT include Dusty Springfield: Live from Heaven, Dean Martin Presents: The Roast of Sammy Davis Jr., Brooks Bros. Memorial ClambakeUCBW and It Sucked! Awards 2010, and the NY Academy of Talent Showcase.

At the UCBT he has studied improv with Jeff Hiller, Doug Moe,

Zack Willis graduated from Emerson College in 2008 and has been taking classes at UCB since 2009. He has studied under the likes of Kevin Hines, Brandon Gardner, Becky Drysdale, Gavin Speiller, Shannon O’Neil, Will Hines, Doug Moe, Anthony King, Porter Mason, and one time Amy Poehler subbed one of his classes.

The inverse magnetostrictive effect (also known as Villari effect) is the name given to the change of the magnetic susceptibility of a material when subjected to a mechanical stress. Whereas magnetostriction characterizes the shape change of a ferromagnetic material during magnetization, the inverse magnetostrictive effect characterizes the change of domain magnetization when a stress is applied to a material. This magnetostriction can be positive (magnetization increased by tension) like in pure iron, or negative (magnetization decreased by tension) like in nickel. John has studied improv under a number of great teachers at UCB.

Connor Ratliff is a member of UCB House team The Stepfathers. He was previously on UCB Harold Teams Dance Break and CAPTCHA.

He has studied long form improv and sketch comedy at UCB since May 2009, under an array of amazing teachers: Betsy Stover, Gil Ozeri, Chelsea Clarke, Shannon O’Neill, Curtis Gwinn, Eliza Skinner, Erik Tanouye, Neil Casey, Caitlin Tegart, Dyna Moe, Anthony King, and Chris Gethard. 

At the beginning of 2010, he began performing with indefatigable indie team (Secret Man Group). He has also performed with the touring company of Baby Wants Candy, and is a member in good standing of THE SHUCKS, a Cagematch-winning team that exists.

Charlie Todd [improveverywhere.com] has been a part of the UCB Theatre since 2001. He performs every Saturday night at 10:30 with the team The Curfew [newyork.ucbtheatre.com], and hosts CageMatch [newyork.ucbtheatre.com] every Thursday night at 11:00 with the comedy wrestling league he created, The UCBW [ucbw.info].

Charlie is the founder of the notorious prank collective Improv Everywhere [improveverywhere.com], and his book, Causing a Scene [amazon.com], details his experiences with the group. Improv Everywhere’s videos have been viewed over 160 million times on YouTube [youtube.com].

Charlie was a founding member of the long-running UCB house team Reuben Williams, performing with them for the entirety of their six-year run on Harold Night and the weekend.

Charlie has also been a member of two 3x3 Tournament championship teams, C, C, & C Improv Factory and Hot Cheese Fiesta. C, C, & C also won the CageMatch Tournament and the SuperCageMatch Tournament.
